ECE opens Startup Campus

On March 1, 2014 the Erasmus Center for Entrepreneurship (ECE) officially opened the Startup Campus- the new entrepreneurial hub located on the 11th floor of the Rotterdam Science Tower. This is a place where entrepreneurs can share ideas, work, learn and grow together. “Here we want business to meet the science, here we want new generations of entrepreneurs to be educated”- notes the founder of the ECE Hendrik Halbe. The Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte joined the opening of the ECE Startup Campus together with over 300 guests- entrepreneurs, investors, professors and politicians. Among the speakers on the official ceremony were the Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, the Rector of the Erasmus University Professor Hubert Pols and prominent Dutch politicians (Jeanette Baljeu & Korrie Louwes) who recognize the important role entrepreneurs play for the economic growth and the efforts of the ECE in supporting them. The event continued with awarding a prize worth of € 5,000 to EnWake, the winner of the Get Started Programme 2013. This was followed by a contest where two entrepreneurs pitched their businesses to the audience.  With this opening, the ECE aspires to make Startup Campus Europe’s top entrepreneurship centre and provide all facilities for ambitious entrepreneurs to start and grow their companies.
